Gardening at a higher level
Fresh vegetables, herbs and lettuce thrive in the raised bed made of anodised aluminium – even on the terrace or balcony. A large planter made of powder-coated aluminium in the colour graphite, provides ideal growing conditions. An outlet, concealed in the frame, allows excess water to drain off. A practical teak shelf under the planter keeps garden tools and watering can within easy reach. Height adjusters on the legs level out any unevenness in the flooring. A trellis, which can be ordered separately, supports plants that grow higher and is also suitable as a filigree room-divider. It is easily inserted into the two rear uprights of the raised bed.
Inspired by beautiful things
The modular Rana collection includes high-quality shelving in two sizes, a raised bed, and a planter of corresponding style. Perfectly designed, with coordinated dimensions and well thought-out functionality, the individual elements also complement each other as an ensemble, create useful storage space and form decorative arrangements.
Guidelines for planting
A sieve ensures the flow of water from the container. In order to prevent it from becoming blocked with soil, the following guidelines should be considered when planting:
Expanded clay granules or pottery shards should be used to create a drainage base layer. Fill approximately one quarter of the planter. Cover this with a layer of fleece. The fleece keeps the soil and base layers apart, and so prevents particles from being washed into the drainage layer and obstructing the flow of water. Now fill the remainder of the container with soil (c. 150 litres). To increase the circulation of air in the planter, the soil can by all means be mixed with granules of expanded clay. The freshly planted container should then be well watered.
The material used for the Bretagne raised bed is suitable for all plants fruiting above ground such as tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, peppers, herbs, chillies, also diverse lettuce, etc. The planter is not suitable for rooting vegetables, as the aluminium material does not allow for sufficient aeration.
